Jorge Pereira

Jorge Pereira

Drums & Vocals

Jorge started playing music by strumming a guitar and singing in a duo in the early 70's. He was heavy into the coffeehouse circuit around St. Louis. By the mid to late 70's Jorge chose to get as far away from the Disco scene as possible and played bass in the bluegrass band "Classical Grass." This was a group of very talented musicians who stayed busy despite the overwhelming influence of the music of the time. In 1980, he joined "Willow Creek" who converted him into a drummer. It has been drums almost exclusively ever since.... including a 15 year stint with Jester.

Wes' take on Jorge goes like this: "He's not flashy, he's a solid drummer who has a few riffs that he will throw at you when he gets comfortable with a song. It is also a wonderful benefit to have such a great singer in his part. Personally, I don't know how any drummer can sing with so many things going on at the same time. It is also an added benefit to have your rhythm partner understand what going on with the melodic instruments in the band too. This kind of player knows how to add to the emotional aspect of the music. They know when to build and when to lay back and keep things simple. Jorge Pereira is one of those select players."
