The "Feiss" Vette-mobileI've told you about "The Feiss," a bud of mine whom I've known since I was about 10 years old. He lived 3-1/2 blocks away from us and hung out with my brother Dan. They got into mini bikes, motorcycles and eventually built a 57 Chevy up into a 10 second bracket 1/4 mile runner out at St. Louis International Raceway. In the pits they were always arguing valve clearances to try for the next run or tire pressure issues to squeeze just a little more horsepower out of the motor or get just little more of the HP to the ground out of the rear. Ususally Feiss would have the better information and also he seemed a little quiker out of the box and through the gears than Bro Dan, but the two of them made a Hell of a team for a couple of independent wrench turners. When he hit high-school, Feiss came across a White '59 Vette that secured his dominion over hanging with only the most gorgeous women. The car developed as he did, bulging with a high rise manifold that would no longer allow the stock hood to contain the motor. Obviously at this point, the Feiss was hitting his stride and the memories have either haunted him for selling that car, or he just would love to reach back and enjoy those times once more. He is building another "nutter, butter, peanut butter sandwich cookie" of a '59 Vette with all of the accoutrements. At the time these shots were taken (4-24-05), he had his frame all welded up and IFS in. He was adjusting the body to fit the new set up and a lot of other parts were in and waiting for the loving hands of this Boeing machinist to apply their "machine minded," guided touch to allow them to become part of the team of this new "Feiss" Vette-mobile. He's definitely not poor boying a thing on this project and it looks like within a year or so, this thing should snort to life with a fair amount of spirit, or at least a little Av-gas inspired, controlled abandon.
